uLiteracy Skills of the Week
Targets: Words:Come Vowel: Long Vowels (Focus on Long I) We have been learning about community helpers. We have been talking about how they are people who live and work in our community who help us. We have been working on our informational and literature text targets! ________________________________________________________________ The children will be learning many engagement structures that allow for collaboration and ultimate class participation. They have been working in partners or groups of 3. We Practiced many engagement strategies including rally robin, timed pair share, and quiz quiz trade! _______________________________________________________________________________ Daily 5!- we continued daily 5 this week. The children learned how to follow the chart that allows for independence! Work with the Teacher: We read literature books and worked on fluency and comprehension. This week we will be working on opinion writing during work with the teacher. Read to self: The children have been doing a great job with looking at books on the carpet! Word Work: We had two choices, The children did "write four ways" or Writing Sentences using popcorn words. Listen to reading: squiggle Park Work on writing: The students have either been practicing writing their letters or writing journal prompts. Daily 5 is a center based reading program that teaches the children independence and collaboration while reinforcing our literacy targets. There are different rotations that the children will be working on during class. The rotations your child will be learning this week will be read to self, listen to reading using IPads, word work and work with the teacher! Check the website for a daily 5 update! |
Math:
Math: We have been working on addition and subtraction story problems. We have been practicing different ways of representing our work. These can include drawing a picture, using fingers, and using cubes. It is so important for our students to represent their work. This shows that they truly understand the story problem! We will continue to work on story problems this week! Writing: We wrote about our favorite community helper and why! We will continue with opinion writing this week! |
